Vee’s Place – our Venue

When we needed to move due to the increase in demand for our Community Resources, Facilities and Support Services, this building was derelict; the former Zion Methodist Church.

Over the years, thanks you our donors and amazing volunteers, the refurbishments make the place almost unrecognisable. There is still a huge amount to do as the work only happens trough the kindness of out Sponsors, Donors and our Volunteers.

Vee’s Place Café

Members pay a small admission entrance fee to access the building’s facilities. Part of this fee entitles them to refreshments. Many of our members pop in for a conversation or an activity and use our Café.

We also have a menu if our members are spending the day with us. Vee’s Place Café is a valuable community focal point for the old and young, and those who might otherwise be isolated and lonely.

Vee’s Place IT Suite

With computing part of our everyday lives, we have a room with IT resources available for education or entertainment. It is an appropriate resource to help people back in to work. It is a way for people to learn to communicate with old friends and acquaintances.
We provide help for those starting out and our webmaster is happy to help by arrangement or if he is on the premises. The Job Centre holds sessions in our community centre and the IT Suite is perfect to update that CV or apply online for jobs under the guidance of an employment professional.

Our Mini-Gym!

Pumping iron is not many people’s idea of a good time but it is the responsible thing to do you’re your health and well-being. The fees and locations of many Fitness Centres makes even the best intentions, sometimes thwarted.

You are welcome to come along and use the equipment in out Mini-Gym. It might not be the biggest room or the best equipment but it there for you if you want to use it. We occasionally have fitness professionals and instructors come in. They sometimes run activities such as Yoga, Mindfulness and Tai Chi as well.

If you are a bit savvy and visit you GP surgery, they normally have a nurse or nutritionist you can see. I know they will be delighted to give you some practical advice on exercise as well, especially if you have not exercised in a while.

Exercising improves mood, has obvious health benefits and in older people can help them become more supple and youthful as their body fires up muscle groups perhaps dormant for decades!

Vee’s Place Library

If you love he feel and smell of “real” books, we have a Library on site. We are blessed because we have a talented Volunteer who is a Librarian. You will be amazed at the variety of the books we have for you to read or lend. You are welcome to come and use the Library in the community centre. You could grab a coffee and enjoy your read in the Café if you like.

Hot-Tub

Currently, at the time of writing at the end of May 2017, our Hot Tub is out of use because the room and supply are being refurbished. Like everything else, works in our community centre are dependent on donations and the availability of the volunteers to do the work.

It will be back in action soon. We will publish an article on this website and also put posters up in the community centre when it is ready to be used again.
